This year’s Conference takes on the theme “Keeping Up the Momentum: Laying Foundations for the Future” and aims to provide a platform for the generous sharing of best practices and embraces the diversity of ideas in implementing innovative financial literacy programmes in schools.

The Citi-NIE Financial Literacy Hub for Teachers was founded on 31 October 2007 with a grant from Citi Foundation to provide training in financial literacy pedagogy to teachers, as well as support to schools in their implementation of financial literacy programmes for their students. Over the past 6 years, the Hub has worked with our partner schools to pilot different models for the teaching of financial literacy. These programmes aim to imbue and grow in students, good character, attitude and values towards personal finances, which is an important life-skill for their future. Join us as our pioneering schools gather to share best practices and discuss issues close to our hearts in our shared mission of educating the child to be financially savvy.

To RSVP your attendance, please email to by 15 November 2013.
We look forward to having you join us to commemorate this important milestone in the promotion of financial literacy in Singapore schools.

About Financial Literacy in Singapore Schools

Financial Literacy entails the ability to make informed judgments and to take effective decisions regarding the use and management of money. The Ministry of Education (MOE) Singapore recognises the need to equip our students with the knowledge and skills to manage their personal finances from an early age.

Organized by the National Institute of Education, Singapore, and funded by Citigroup, the Citi-NIE Financial Literacy Hub for Teachers offers teachers a personal finance course for personal development and a pedagogy course on promoting financial literacy in schools. There is currently ongoing research into the effectiveness of the programmes and a longitudinal impact study. The Hub provides participating schools funding for their financial literacy cluster events; platforms where students get to learn useful financial literacy tips in a fun way and also to network with each other.

Values-based Financial Literacy through Values-Education

Financial literacy education is a critical life skill for survival in the 21st Century. By understanding the cultural context of kids today and how growing up in a world of affluence, we, as educators need to guide them to discern between values and to stay grounded in a world that emphasises material needs and wants. Join us for ideas for engaging lessons through financial literacy.
